April has been a very busy month for The Service users here at the BRC!
We started the month off completing are pledge to the Keep Britain Tidy campaign! We pledged to litter pick 10 bin bags of rubbish from around the Centre, The Bowersdale Park and the local area, we absolutely smashed it, The whole crew was out not only did we litter pick we also collected the recycling separately to stop them going to landfill and help protect a precious planet that little bit more.
Easter party was a great success, the visit from the Easter Bunny really did make the day extra special! The service users had a great time doing the Easter hunt, egg and spoon race and Easter bingo all the service users got an Egg of their choice as well as lots of extra chocolate treats.
We have started the local outings group again on Tuesday Mornings these have been a great success, with the service users taking ownership and helping to decide where we go each week! So far we have been for a walk alongside the marina lake the enjoyed a drink at the lakeside with fantastic views and company.
We had a lovely Day out at Rice Lane farm where we were able to meet some baby lambs, pet and stroke a very big sheep called pumpkin, and get up close and personal with a couple of Billy Goats, we also seen Cows, pigs and some very fluffy rabbits before enjoying a nice walk around the beautiful grounds then to the local café for some lunch together.
We enjoyed a trip to the Liverpool museum which was a first for one of our service users! It was a fantastic morning exploring the great wonders of the past, looking at the insects and then down to the aquarium watching all the fish and sea creatures from the deep which was very relaxing. We finished off with a picnic in the city centre.
Finally the last outing of the month we spent a couple of hours in Crosby village, looking around the charity shops, and where giving a bag full of different calendars 2023 to bring back and share with the rest of the service users at the centre.
Spring has finally sprung in The Bowersdale Garden and all the hard work the service users have put in is starting to show with beautiful flowers have now bloomed.
We have are potatoes, kale, strawberries, parsley, lots of salad, onions, garlic and herbs growing in are new beds.
We harvested an abundance of parsley mint and salad and donated it to the Food Bank at St Leonards who were very grateful of the fresh produce.
