Bowersdale Resource Centre

Supporting Positive Mental Health, Wellbeing and Independence.

Bowersdale Resource Centre is Expect’s day service for adults with mental health needs and learning disabilities. We provide a safe, welcoming and non-clinical environment where people can take part in structured activities that promote positive mental health, wellbeing, independence and social inclusion.

The people who use our service are at the heart of everything we do. Their ideas, feedback and aspirations help shape our programme, ensuring we continue to provide activities and opportunities that are meaningful, enjoyable and responsive to their interests.

Open Monday to Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm, Bowersdale offers a varied programme designed to encourage people to build confidence, develop new skills, make friendships and enjoy meaningful experiences in a supportive environment.

The service is funded by Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care Board (ICB) for eligible Sefton residents requiring mental health support. Referrals from outside the area are considered on an individual basis.

What We Offer

Our programme offers a wide range of activities that support positive mental health, wellbeing and independence, including:

  • Creative arts and crafts
  • Healthy cooking and nutrition
  • Gardening and environmental projects
  • Walking groups and physical wellbeing activities
  • Music and drumming sessions
  • Mental health and wellbeing groups
  • Health promotion and awareness sessions
  • Accredited Maths and English qualifications
  • Seasonal events, celebrations and community outings

All activities are free for eligible service users, with no limit to the number of sessions they can attend.

More Than Activities

At Bowersdale, we are passionate about creating opportunities that help people develop confidence, learn new skills and stay connected with their community.

Throughout the year we work alongside education providers, healthcare professionals and local organisations to deliver accredited learning, health and wellbeing sessions, environmental projects and community initiatives.

We are proud to participate in initiatives including North West in Bloom, Keep Britain Tidy, Great Big Green Week, community litter picks with Green Sefton, and fundraising and awareness events in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.

These opportunities encourage people to contribute to their local community, care for the environment, build meaningful relationships and experience the many benefits that come from being active, involved and connected.

A Service Shaped by the People Who Use It

Our activity programme is reviewed regularly through service user meetings and ongoing feedback, ensuring the people who attend Bowersdale have a genuine voice in the opportunities we provide.

By listening to the people who use our service, we continue to develop a programme that reflects their interests, aspirations and goals while creating a welcoming, inclusive and enjoyable environment for everyone.
