The Social Care Day of Remembrance and Reflection is taking place on 17 March 2022.
Statement from The Homecare Association;
Alongside 20 other social care organisations, we’ve helped to organise this day to pay tribute to the incredible work of the dedicated people working across social care during the past two years of the pandemic, and to remember those social care colleagues we’ve sadly lost to COVID-19. An estimated 922 social care workers lost their lives to COVID-19 between March 2020-May 2021.
Social Care Day of Remembrance and Reflection will remember these people as well as reflect on the work of everyone working in social care, with a virtual memorial wall and tribute wall where messages can be dedicated to members of our social care workforce. We’re encouraging everyone impacted by social care to share their messages on the virtual walls.
We’ll also be hosting an event on the day which will include stories from people working across social care and drawing on care and support, plus the reading of a specially written poem dedicated to our workforce and the screening of an exclusive film with people from the sector sharing their own experiences.
You can join the event virtually on the day by registering using the link below. We’d love as many people as possible to join in virtually and share in the stories and experiences being discussed.
As well as joining the event we’re also encouraging people to get involved by taking part in any activity of your choosing to pay tribute to our social care workers – that could be planting a tree, hosting a coffee morning, or creating flower displays.
