International Non-Binary people’s day takes place on 14th July and is observed all over the world.
The first international non-binary day was celebrated in 2012 and takes place on this day because it is precisely midpoint between International Women’s Day and International Men’s Day.
Non-Binary is an umbrella term for people whose gender does not sit comfortably within the binaries of ‘Man’ or ‘Woman’. Non-Binary identities are varied and can include individuals who identify with some aspects of gender binary and others who reject them entirely. Some individuals experience gender fluidity. Others do not.
Trans and Non-Binary individuals are some of the most oppressed members of the LGBTQ+ community and it is vital that we have days to bring attention to the lives and experiences of Non-Binary people and take action against Trans and Non-Binary phobia.
