Learning Disability Week June15th-21st

Learning Disability Week is an annual UK event taking place next week-  June 15 to 21, 2026.

Led by the charity Mencap, the 2026 theme is “Do you see me?”. It is all about celebrating the achievements of people with a learning disability, being seen, heard and valued, along with challenging societal barriers.

Why This Week Matters

Around 1.5 million people in the UK have a learning disability. Despite many wanting to work and contribute, they often face severe barriers:

• Employment: Only 6% of people with a learning disability are employed – but 86% want a paid job.
• Social Isolation: 1 in 3 people with a learning disability spend less than an hour outside their home on a typical Saturday.
• Healthcare Inequalities: There are significant disparities in healthcare and life expectancy compared to the general population.
